Wow, winning #ECMA2019 Jazz Recording of the Year was a huge surprise for us, and we are HUGELY  thankful! Big ups to all of the nominees and thank you to the ECMAs, our fans, families, and supporters. KITCHUSES is what it is because of our producer John MacLean, our audio engineer Stephen Lilly, our graphic designer Jud Haynes, and the magical place and people of Trunk Lane. Special shout out to our drummer Andrew McCarthy who played beautifully on the album, and Chuck Bucket who has been playing with us since Andrew moved to Toronto. And we wouldn't be where we are today without the perseverance of our manager, Mary Beth Waldram. Oh! And the funders, the funders, the funders: MusicNL, ArtsNL, the City of...

I'm headed to St. John's in a couple of weeks and I'm pumped that we're playing with Catalina Reapers, who are: "Equal parts Devo, Waits, Blues Explosion, and Marilyn Manson. Heavy but danceable." Gonna be a party!

So after driving 7000km and playing 35 sets all over eastern Canada, we're switching gears and doing a "soft seater" live video recording at Rocket Room (upstairs above Rocket Bakery). Here are the deets:

You all know that Ouroboros can rock a club and a festival - but sitting and listening is fun too! Come out for a rare occasion to chill while you experience St. John's own World-Beat-Sax-Machine during an intimate evening at Rocket Room on Sunday August 12th.

To capture this event, the show will be recorded on audio and video - to be mixed, edited, and released online at a later date. So not only will you be able to have a fantastic evening of some of Canada's most innovative instrumental music, your app...

Wow, we're so happy to be nominated for GROUP RECORDING OF THE YEAR by the East Coast Music Association. #ECMA2018 is gonna be huge (it's is their 30th anniversary!) and we can't wait to play in Halifax in May. Check out their announcement page for the entire list of nominees - we are among great company :)

In other, very exciting, news: we've got a new drummer. We had very well prepared and executed auditions. It was awesome to see several young, hard-working drummers who are already on the scene here in St. John's try out for the part and I'm happy to say it wasn't easy to pick a winner. We had to go with the one who both played great and was a good fit for the band.

We're proud to welco...

Well, we've all made it and got another year under our collective belts. Being in band is very rewarding, but never easy! The past year we've had some great successes: like playing our first festival in the UK, releasing our second album, and working the eastern canadian showcase circuit. Buuut, our original drummer Andrew McCarthy moved away, and our subsequent-presumed-forever-drummer Ash Chalmers had to back out of the band to be with his family. Understandable, of course, but very frustrating, as you can imagine.

This is a new year, however! We've got a couple of very talented drummers in the running to be "the one", and just got our tickets and air bnb booked for our showcases @ Folk Alliance Inter...

It's been a few weeks since we had our release party for KITCHUSES at the Rockhouse, and we have some pics for you! We were fortunate that New Zealand photographer Gareth White (garethwhite.co.nz) was able to come to our show and take some snaps. Make sure you visit his website! Here they are:

We also had the wiley Lee Tizzard in taking some footage, so expect some video from the release coming soon.

Annnnd last but not least, upcoming shows! Tomorrow we head to beautiful Ottawa for the Canadian Arts Presenting Association's annual conference. We are playing a closed showcase at the legendary Black Sheep in Wakefield Thursday night. It will be our second time there and we cannot wait to share the stage with...
