Fall for Jazz (and klezmer, and balkan, and funk...)
Every member of the band has been busy over the past couple of months, be it spending time with family overseas, traveling the province with tribute shows, or lining up those fall students and classroom gigs! But we're back in action and have a busy year ahead of us.
First thing's first: shows! Tomorrow night, as part the Wreckhouse Jazz and Blues Festival we are opening up for Toronto funk-meisters After Funk at Factory. Stay late and you may see us join forces. Jus sayin'. Next week we're heading out of town to play a show at Citadel House in Lewisporte followed by Swirsky's in Corner Brook. Then we're back home at The Ship to play for the Atlantic Dance Presenters conference. We've got more public shows in October too (maybe even a spooky one) so keep an eye on our social media and our shows calendar as more details are announced.
We're getting ready for a big grant application to FACTOR so that means we've been busy uploading lots live sound and video to our Soundcloud and Youtube pages, featuring some previously unrecorded material, so please check 'em out and let us know what you think! It's always a humbling experience for us...go easy ;)
And what will that grant for (if we get it - wish us luck)? RECORDING! We're going to be heading back into the mythical Trunk Lane Studio this Winter, but with a super special CFA (that's Come From Away) producer to make our second release extra tasty. To promote said album we're also going to be touring Eastern Canada and...across the pond. Stay tuned!
To end, I wanted to leave you with a bit of love we got from comedian and Ouroboros fan, James Mullinger. Fred's put him on to us, and he's been spreading the word ever since. Thanks James!
