Hello 2017!

Well, it's been a while since our last update. Things have been crazy! So let's start from where we left off. Strap yourself in, this is gonna be a longer one.

We had a great show at MUN D.F. Cook Recital Hall in November. For some reason when we are on tour, we play lots of acoustic shows, but here at home, it's less common. So it was great to not have to deal with mics and monitors and just play and move around and spin in a circle and all that fun stuff.

We didn't play ANY public shows in Dec or January. Myself and Andrew were away on a short baytour for some of Dec, and we all had Christmas gigs with other projects. Christmas is a great time in St. John's: lots of people come home for the holiday, so not only do you get to see tons of friends and family, LOTS of bands play their only show of the year at this time. I think I checked out a dozen sets of music Christmas week!

Then January hit, and I got sick. I randomly got a bad knee infection that I'm still not fully recovered from. Luckily I'm on my feet again, with no permanent damage and am back to walking for my errands and standing at gigs. And we just had our first gig since Nov for INDIA's album release. We had an awesome time closing out for these young guys' show. They played great and PACKED the Rock House. Check em out!

Now we are less than a month out from heading into the studio with producer John MacLean:

In 2003, John founded the social justice/afrobeat band Mr. Something Something, with whom he toured extensively for eight years and recorded and produced five albums. The group went on to receive a 2006 Juno Award nomination and their original song, Di Bombs, was used in a major motion picture (Kassim the Dream) produced by Forrest Whitacre.

Since 2010, John has worked as Broadcast Technician, Audio Mixer, Associate Producer/Technician, Recording Engineer and Supervising Technician at the world-class CBC Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. He has worked with top Canadian and international artists across multiple genres, including Gordon Lightfoot, Serena Ryder, the Vienna Philharmonic, Sass Jordan, Ben Heppner, Jill Barber, Holly Cole, Alex Cuba, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Natalie MacMaster, Hawksley Workman, the Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Henry Rollins and many more.

Between shifts, John records, produces and engineers records for world/jazz artists and freelances as a tenor sax and clarinet player. He also support artists in live sound reinforcement and remote recording.

We're so excited to be bringing John to St. John's to work with us. Between now and the beginning of March there's lots to be done: intimate metronome time, reviewing scratch tracks, lining up our guest artists, touching up charts and a *little* more writing to do. There's going to be a bunch of songs on the album that we've never played in public, so it's going to be very exciting to release them in the Summer.
