ECMA's and...a new drummer!
Wow, we're so happy to be nominated for GROUP RECORDING OF THE YEAR by the East Coast Music Association. #ECMA2018 is gonna be huge (it's is their 30th anniversary!) and we can't wait to play in Halifax in May. Check out their announcement page for the entire list of nominees - we are among great company :)
In other, very exciting, news: we've got a new drummer. We had very well prepared and executed auditions. It was awesome to see several young, hard-working drummers who are already on the scene here in St. John's try out for the part and I'm happy to say it wasn't easy to pick a winner. We had to go with the one who both played great and was a good fit for the band.
We're proud to welcome Mr. Chuck Bucket (aka Sultan Dharamshi) to the Ouroboros family! From his website:

Chuck (aka Sultan Dharamshi) was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1982, spent his youth primarily in Ontario, and is now based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Raised in a musical family, he started his professional career at the age of 16 playing drums in his father’s band. He has toured and recorded extensively throughout Canada and the United States.
A versatile multi-percussionist, Sultan has performed many different show formats, music genres, and varieties of drum/percussion instrumentation. With a solid background playing traditional American styles of Blues, Jazz, R&B, and Soul, he also has extensive experience playing world music, including Cuban, Middle Eastern, and African styles. In recent years Sultan has been developing expertise in experimenting with electronic/acoustic hybrid drumming, for recordings and live performances, using software such as Ableton Live and Avid Protools, along with drum trigger and midi technology.
He is currently touring and recording for Sony Music recording artist, Ria Mae. Sultan is also a Percussionist for the well-known Brookes Diamond Production, the DRUM! Show.
We're looking forward to playing our first high profile shows with Chuck at the ECMA's in May, along with many more. Stay tuned for upcoming shows in St. John's and tour dates in July. Happy weekend!
